The steps I followed were as follows if you don't currently have any drivers installed, you can skip steps : 1. Extract the In the extracted Uninstall any currently installed drivers by going to Control Panel and clicking on "Uninstall a program" under the Programs heading. Select the existing NVidia drivers from the programs list and click on Uninstall. Inside the extracted folder is another folder labelled Setup and inside that folder is the Driver Sweeper application.
Right click on the Driver Sweeper application, select Properties , click on the Compatibility tab, place a check mark next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" , and select Windows XP Service Pack 3 from the drop down list. I can't confirm this program actually worked and removed additional files, but I ran it as a precaution.
Reboot Windows 7 in Safe Mode using F8 when the computer starts to reboot and then selecting "Safe Mode" from the list. When it reboots, it will probably install the Standard VGA display driver, which you will need to uninstall.
Go to the Start Menu and right click on Computer and select Properties , then select Device Manager in the upper left. In the Device Manager list, click on the plus sign next to Display Adapters then right click on Standard VGA display adapter or whatever the exact listing is and select Uninstall.
Exit out of Device Manager and then navigate to the Driver Sweeper application and run it. You can choose Analyze if you wish, but I simply chose Clear , then confirmed my action in the resulting confirmation dialogue box.
Note : the first time I ran Driver Sweeper it didn't appear to do anything, ie. Reboot into normal mode. Once again, it will probably install the Standard VGA display driver, but this time you don't need to bother uninstalling it. Now, for the installation of the It may not, but I didn't know. Selet "Browse my computer for driver software" , then select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" , then click on "Have Disk".
Browse to your Modded INF file and install. You will probably get a warning about the drivers being unsigned, but simply choose to continue installation. When installation completes, Reboot. And that should be it. My apologies if this seems like it's written for dummies, but sometimes being a dummy myself, I find too much information is better than not enough. I hope this works for others as well as it seems to be working for me. Enjoy, Eggroll. Monday, June 15, PM. Driver Sweeper is very easy to use.
You only have to select the drivers you want to clean. The best way to clean drivers is to first uninstall the drivers using the official uninstallers, reboot in Safe Mode and run Guru3D - Driver Sweeper. However, rebooting and not going into Safe Mode also works, but can cause some files not to be cleaned. What can it be used for? All the settings are saved in an ini file. Nothing is created in the registry, so it's possible to use it as a portable program.
