You could browse to one of the event logs, open it and see what computer name is listed on the events. Look for. You should be able to find the name in the NetSetup. This should be the same for XP and W7. Look to the bottom of the file for the latest entries.
The event logs was the most straight forward, but did require me to enter the admin credentials. Open the NetSetup file by using notepad than you will be able to view all computer details.
